Car-free Terms

The term "car-free" can encompass a range of different restrictions on motor vehicle use. There are four types of car-free measures according to the length of period and the size of car-free zones: Traffic Calming, Shared Space, Car-free Days, Car-free Housing, Car-free City.

The amount of time children spends playing outdoors, their ability to get around independently, and their level of contact with nature are strong indicators of how a city is performing, not just for children but for all generations of city dwellers.
